bocatto
Find tapas bars, rate the dishes you order, keep lists, and put your favourite dishes on a podium on your profile. A monthly ranking picks a theme and ranks dishes by city or country. The app is in Spanish and English, and other people's reviews can be translated on the phone itself. I work on it with a team; my part is the mobile app: the review flow, lists, settings, translations, sharing, and the builds and store submissions.
How it works
Your podium
Every profile has a podium: the three dishes you would send a friend to try, and where to find them.
A list of reviews only grows; the podium stays short, so it is the quickest answer to "where should I eat?"
Profile of @lucia, 58 reviews and 23 places. Her podium: 1st berenjenas con miel at La Esquina, 2nd croqueta de jamón at Casa Pepa, 3rd tortilla de patatas at Bar Lucía.
This month's ranking
Every month the ranking picks a theme and ranks the dishes people have rated, in your city or across the country.
It gives a reason to go out and try the contenders, and a bar a reason to be proud of a dish.
best croqueta · Granada
Ranking for best croqueta in Granada: 1, croqueta de jamón at Casa Pepa, 4.8; 2, croqueta de bacalao at La Esquina, 4.6; 3, croqueta de boletus at Bar Lucía, 4.5.
From 54 hours to the stores
The whole story at a glance: the clock of a 54-hour hackathon, then one step a month until the app was ready for the stores.
On the way the name changed, letter by letter, from Tapealo to Bocatto.
Timeline: Startup Weekend Granada, 54 hours, 2nd place; end of April, first code; May, Spanish and English and the new name, Tapealo becomes Bocatto; June, ready for the stores; July, first-run setup, monthly ranking and diary.
from weekend to app
It began as a pitch and a prototype, built in 54 hours at Startup Weekend Granada 2026 under the name Tapealo. It took 2nd place, and the team kept going. The code for the real app started at the end of April 2026.
In May the app was translated into Spanish and English, settings and sharing came in, and the project was renamed Bocatto, from the code to the app icon. In June the work turned to the App Store and Google Play: builds that go to both stores on their own, and the account and safety features that store review asks for. July brought a new first-run setup, the monthly ranking and a personal diary of the places you have been.
The app is still in active development, so this page shows what it does, not how it is built.
